The day has finally come: GTA Vs first trailer is here. And, boy, did it make quite an impact. The Internet is bursting with speculations and detailed analysis of what this incredible video has showed us.

Just a few days ago, Rockstar announced that it was going to release a GTA 5 trailer this week. The guys were kind enough to even give us a date: November 2. So, here we are, a couple of hundreds of plays later, trying to figure out all of the possible spoilers and hints this amazing trailer has given us. Excited? Thrilled? How couldn’t you?

It needs no introductions: with you, the trailer

Whenever you are ready, join me while I break down what we’ve seen here. Don’t worry, take all the time you need.

Location: revealed

There has been a lot of talk the last few days over where was this installment going to be located. Most of the ideas took the “V” from the logo and flew from there to almost impossible and bizarre possibilities, but just a few were close. Did someone say Las Venturas? Close enough. A Hollywood-like location, anyone? Even closer.

It turns out that GTA V will apparently be set on modern-day Los Santos, city we all know in detail thanks to the fantastic GTA: San Andreas. Vinewood is also very likely to be a huge part of the game, which would explain the “V” a in the logo (apart from being, you know, the Roman equivalent for “5”).

Proof for the location abound. If you look closely to the license plates in the trailer, you’ll see that they read “Los Santos”; the pest control van also has a LS inscription on it; a poster on the beach advertises Los Santos’ Muscle Sands; and most evidently, the huge Vinewood sign.

The question remains whether the game will be set entirely on Los Santos or if, on the other hand, we’ll get to see how does the San Andreas state look like today. The massive mountain in the trailer hints that at least we’ll get to go to the countryside, and the Sasquatch drawing in the police seal might indicate something extra.GTA V license plates

Story: bad habits never die

The story will revolve around a wealthy man that’s moving to Los Santos in search for a nice and quiet retirement, looking for “that thing”, something “you see it in the movies”. It also seems like he’s escaping from a criminal past that, given what we’ve seen in the trailer, won’t leave him be for too long.

This all we are given in an explicit way but many people are trying to dig in and deeper to find more. Some are pointing to a multi-character gameplay, in which the player would be able to control more than just one character. This would be evidenced in the trailer in several parts where we watch different people (a CJ-like man running from the police, the three men from the pest control) doing their dirty jobs.

But probably one of the most exciting speculations is the one that deals with recurring characters that could be returning here. The aforementioned CJ-like man, the homeless that looks like an aged Niko Bellic and the wealthy man that some are pointing as an old Tommy Vercetti could result being the ones we suspect them to be. In fact, Tommy might as well be the wealthy man that wants to retire.

Vehicles, places and miscellaneous: bigger, greater, prettier details

Vehicles have always been a major deal in all of the GTA series. From the distant first game to the franchise’s spinoffs, cars, motorcycles and trucks have been given special attention and they were always inspired in real counterparts. It’s obvious that GTA V won’t be the exception  when it comes to this.

The trailer show us convertibles, motorcycles, 18-wheelers and even golf carts. Bu most importantly, we can catch a glimpse of planes, which were absent in the previous installment and which seem to be out to a triumphant return in GTA V. And if you add the shots of jet-skis and the blimps, the offer is wider than ever.

As for the places, the gym mechanics are most likely to return given the shot on the beach that shows several fitness enthusiasts. Also, the scene with the nightclub’s bouncer kicking some random goon out might also be clue for what’s coming our way. Finally, the shot with the plane fumigating the farmers makes me wonder how much importance will farming have in the game.

There are also several other objects that got me all excited about their possible inclusion: from telescopes and silencers, to the prostitutes comeback there is a lot to take in. A final observation: there’s plenty of contrast between the rich and the poor here, as if that were a big part of the game’s story. Of course, this is just a stretch.GTA V Massive Mountain

Now that several of GTA V’s details have been revealed, the next big question that got everybody speculating is when we’ll be able to actually play the game. And although there are some elaborate and intricate theories about it, I think is too soon to be playing the guessing game.
